Right, the point of the picture was just to show you where the half-circle would be if it were still there and, should you decide to replace it, how to line the new one up. The teeth should be sufficient to keep the timing from wandering. If you check your timing with a timing light, it's pretty obvious. The mark will be very jumpy and twitchy if it's loose, it'll be stable if it's where it should be. As long as you get the CAS's input shaft lined up properly when you install it, you should be fine. For replacement/repair, JWT did an article about it. A lot of the article talks more about the CAS misalignment issue on early 90s, so they've obviously replaced it for a different reason.
